Cactus
A cactus rises through a field of floating light, almost like a constellation suspended in darkness. The image feels both fragile and resilient, a quiet study of survival, isolation, and beauty within harsh environments.
This hand-made cyanotype print was created using traditional photographic chemicals, sunlight exposure, water, and a physical negative. The glowing textures, deep blue tones, and scattered light marks are all natural results of the analogue process, shaped by chemistry, weather, and chance.
Printed slowly by hand on 300 GSM watercolour paper, this artwork exists as a single original piece. No digital reproduction can recreate the exact textures and imperfections formed during exposure and washing.
Part of a six-year exploration of handmade photographic printing and the unpredictable relationship between light and material.
