Dark Night on Dal Lake
A lone bird moves across the dark sky above Dal Lake, surrounded by scattered circles of light that feel like drifting snow, rain, or distant stars. The image exists somewhere between dream and memory, carrying the quiet solitude of Kashmir after dusk.
This hand-made cyanotype print was created using traditional photographic chemicals, sunlight exposure, water, and a physical negative. The soft textures, floating light patterns, and deep blue tones are shaped naturally through the handmade process, making this artwork impossible to recreate exactly again.
Printed slowly by hand on 300 GSM watercolour paper, every mark and imperfection becomes part of the final piece. No digital print can reproduce the same surface, atmosphere, or depth created by light and chemistry.
Part of an ongoing six-year exploration of cyanotype printing, night landscapes, and fleeting moments of silence.
